What to Expect at Mountain West Eyecare

During your exam, Dr. Bethany Gillett will walk you through every step, explain your results clearly, and answer any questions you may have. Most exams take about 30–45 minutes, and if you’re updating your prescription, we’ll help you browse frames or talk about your contact lens options.

When Should I Schedule an Eye Exam?

Everyone’s eyes are different, but regular eye exams are one of the best ways to protect your vision. If you’re not sure how often to come in, here are some general guidelines:

Every year, for adults and teens, especially if you wear glasses or contacts.
Every year, for children, starting around age 1 and again before kindergarten.
Annually, if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of eye disease.
Every 1–2 years after age 40, even if your vision seems fine.
Immediately, if you're noticing changes in your vision or experiencing pain.
